A Journey Across Continents

Rooted in devotion, guided by experience, and shaped by a lifelong exploration of Eastern and Western wisdom traditions, my work is an offering of integration: mind, body, heart, and consciousness.

Born in Cairo, Egypt, into a traditional Coptic Orthodox family, I was immersed in spiritual practice from an early age. This foundation, alongside my upbringing in the United States, created an ongoing dialogue within me between East and West, one that continues to inform my path today. I see myself as a global citizen, deeply moved by humanity’s shared longing for connection, meaning, and the sacred.

My journey began with a BA in Psychology, where I was simultaneously first introduced to Yoga, an experience that quietly stayed with me. During my college internship, I supported women experiencing IPV and eating disorders. I went on to work as a registered counselor with children and at-risk youth. Immersed in the world of the mind, analysis, diagnosis, and story, I began to sense something essential was missing. At 25, on the cusp of beginning a master’s program in psychotherapy, I felt a clear and unexpected call to pause, step away, and travel.

Within a month, I left on a one-way ticket to Egypt. That decision changed the course of my life. What followed was an expansive period of travel through the Middle East, Europe, Australia, Central America, Indonesia and Asia. During this time I deepened my connection to Yoga and Eastern Psychology, not just as philosophies, but as lived, embodied practices. I trained extensively through apprenticeships and jungle retreats in India, immersive study in Northern Thailand, and formal yoga teacher trainings, including my first ashram intensive and formative 1100-hour program, both in Australia. There I also discovered Ayurveda, Yoga’s sister science, which became an integral part of my path.

Through these experiences, I came to understand that truth, for me, exists beyond name and form. That freedom is available in the present moment. We are not limited to the narratives of the mind, but can instead access a deeper awareness, one that is spacious, and whole.

Philosophy

Embodying Inherent Radiance

For over two decades, I have held space for this unfolding with care and reverence, supporting students and clients to soften, heal, and recognize their ever-present inner radiance. Beneath the layers of conditioning and experience, there is an inherent wisdom, a quiet clarity, and a natural capacity for connection. My intention is to support others in remembering and embodying that truth. My work is a transmission of all that I have gathered, weaving together Yoga, Ayurveda, and Hakomi to support a deep process of self-inquiry and recognition of Self.

Yoga, as a path of awakening, is at the heart of what I offer. I teach privately, 1:1 or small group, weekly community classes, workshops, continuing education, and annual retreats, both locally and internationally. I am the co director of Synergy Yoga School’s 200-hour teacher training, a most joyous offering, co founded with my dear friend, Jodi Boone.

As a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Licensed Massage Therapist, I offer nutritional and lifestyle counseling and specialize in Ayurvedic bodywork. I offer public educational programs annually and am a guest lecturer for Discovery Point School of Massage and lead teacher on 8 Limbs Yoga Teacher Training. My early passion for women’s studies led me to serve as a labor and birth doula, supporting women and families through the transformative process of birth.

When I discovered Hakomi, I knew I had finally come home. Hakomi beautifully bridges Eastern and Western psychology, integrating mindfulness, somatic awareness, and the understanding that healing unfolds organically when we are met with loving presence. Within a field of compassion and attunement, clients are supported to explore freely. There is nothing to fix, no agenda to impose - only an invitation to slow down, listen, feel, breathe, and access the innate intelligence that guides healing and a return to Self. It is a deep privilege to offer this work.

With all that I have experienced and cultivated in this life, the deepest and most meaningful, is my path of motherhood. My son is my greatest teacher. I love him so deeply and I let go so profoundly. Through him I have learned the essence of Yoga itself: “Always, we begin again.”

“Being guided through the path of yoga by Tami, is like being led through the desert by the North Star. Since taking my first yoga class (ever) with Tami, 17 years ago, my life has shown the profound impact that both she and yoga have had on it. So many classes and teachers later, it is always such an honor to be in Tami’s class. Her beautiful teaching style is a true testament to Tami’s life…. full of love and devotion.”
